Reception applications open in the Autumn term, usually around mid-September. The deadline to apply is 15th January each year.
Applying before this date ensures your application is included in the main allocation round.
All applications for Wisewood Primary School are made through Sheffield City Council. The process is straightforward, and you can apply online through the Sheffield Council website, or contact their admissions team if you'd prefer support.
Their website also has helpful guides for parents about choosing and applying for a school place.
If more families apply then we have places available, Sheffield City Council uses their official criteria to decide on how places are allocated.
We understand how important this decision is, and we want to assure you that the process is fair and follows national guidance.
If you'd like more detail about admissions , you can read our full policy here. This includes everything you might need in one place.

Once a place has been offered you will be invited to an introductory visit at the school. Your child will also be offered a home visit so that we can get to know them better.

Admissions FAQ's
You should apply through the admissions process described above, unless your child has an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan. All children whose EHC plan names the school will be admitted before any other places are allocated.
Hillsborough Primary School will ensure it meets its duties under the Schools Admissions Code of Practice by:
- Not refusing admission for a child that has named the school in their EHC plan.
- Adopting fair practices and arrangements in accordance with the School Admission Code for the admission of children without an EHC plan.
- Considering applications from parents of children who have SEND but do not have an EHC plan.
- Not refusing admission for a child who has SEND but does not have an EHC plan because the school does not feel able to cater for those needs.
- Not refusing admission for a child on the grounds that they do not have an EHC plan.
If your child is already on roll at a school in Sheffield and you want to transfer to another Sheffield School, you must obtain a Common Transfer Form from their current school.
Please visit Sheffield City Council website for more details
Attendance at our Nursery does not guarantee admission to the school and a place in Reception must be applied for.
