At Hillsborough Primary School we believe that a school uniform fosters a sense of identity, belonging and pride. At Hillsborough Primary School our uniform sets a high standard of appearance for all, whilst clothing pupils in practical, cost-effective school wear.
At Hillsborough Primary School we believe that a school uniform ensures that:
- Everybody is practical and looks smart.
- Children feel equal to others in terms of appearance.
- There is no distraction in class and it is regarded suitable clothing for school.
- Children can be identified when taking part in out of school educational activities and visits.
Overview and General Requirements
At Hillsborough Primary School the school uniform consists of:
- Royal blue polo shirt
- Navy jumper/cardigan/fleece.
- Black/dark grey trousers or skirts/dresses or blue checked dresses
- Plain black shoes
P.E Kit:
- White T-shirt
- Black or navy shorts and/or jogging bottoms
- School jumper for the colder months
- Pumps or trainers

School Uniform Rules at Hillsborough Primary School
- No jewellery, except small, plain studs for pierced ears and wrist watches – both of which must be removed for P.E and swimming.
- Skirt length modest – no shorter than just above the knee.
- No high-heeled shoes over 3cm.
- No fashion items, e.g. boot-leg trousers, mini-skirts or designer sportswear, or accessories such as false nails and lashes.
- Socks and tights should be plain coloured, no patterns or cartoons.
- All clothing, including coats and shoes must be labelled with pupil’s name.
Jewellery
At Hillsborough Primary School children should only wear one pair of small, plain stud earrings. These should not be worn on P.E. or swimming days.
- If children come to school wearing earrings on P.E days they will have to take the earrings out themselves or cover them over with a plaster or Micropore tape which they have brought from home. If they come to school wearing them on swimming days, unless they can take them out the leisure centre will not allow them to participate in the lesson.
- Chains or bracelets should not be worn to school.
- Children in Key Stage 2 can wear a watch.
- Teachers do not take responsibility for looking after jewellery.
